Pune, Nov 29 (UNI) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was released this morning from Yerwada jail here.
As the actor came out of the jail at 0945 hrs, he was greeted by a small crowd with cheers and a galaxy of mediapersons waiting to catch a glimpse of the actor.
Dutt was whisked away in his waiting car outside the jail and taken to Pune airport. His close friends and lawyers accompanied him to Mumbai.
Dutt's lawyer Satish Maneshinde arrived at the jail at 0820 hrs and applied for bail by dropping the application in the mail box outside the jail. Within five minutes, the jail authorities took the application and began the process for release.
Dutt was convicted by a special TADA court for six years imprisonment under the Arms Act in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
The actor, along with his friend Yusuf Mohsin Nulwalla and 15 others, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on November 27 in the case.
