Chandigarh, Nov 29 (UNI) Rajasthan registered a comprehensive 190-runs victory over Gujarat and garnered five points in the All India (Under -19) Plate Group match for Cooch-Behar Trophy at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.
In the morning Rajasthan declared at overnight score of 310 for 9 without sending their batsmen in and setting a target of 355 runs to win on the last day of the four-day match.
The Gujarat batsmen put a dismal show as only three of their batsmen could reach the double-figure mark which included half century by Jassal Karia who scored 57 runs off 70 balls including 12 hits to fence. Opener Venu Srinivasan was the other notable contributor of 37 runs. Rest of the wickets crumbled like play cards.
Medium pacer Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Azharuddin were instrumental in Rajasthan victory as both claimed three wickets a piece for 48 and 34 runs, respectively. Another bowler to impress was the left arm spinner Gajender Singh, who scalped two wickets by giving 31 runs off 16 overs spell.
Immediately after tea break the last wicket fell at 164 who was caught behind the wicket off the bowling of Mohammad Azharudin. By virtue of this win Rajasthan won both the games of their league phase and will now face Madhya Pradesh from December 2 to 5 at JR Institute of Cricket technology (Barwala) Panchkula. Gujarat will now take on Haryana at Rohtak on the same schedule.
