Kaithal, Nov 29 (UNI) Large number of residents of Polar village of the district assembled here today and marched to the mini secretariat to protest over the threat of their eviction from their houses by authorities of Archeological Suryey of India (ASI). According to sources number of residents of the village situated on Kaithal-Patiala road, about 16 km from here, had been served notices by ASI recently to vacate their houses which had been built on an ancient site claimed to have been found by the ASI. The protestors reportedly submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner S K Goyal in support of their demand. In the memorandum they had demanded an assurance from the government that they will not be dislodged from their houses.
The villagers have threatened to launch an agitation if the authorities made efforts to forcibly evict them from their houses.
