Kohima, Nov 29: Two NSCN-IM cadres were shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Namsa under Tizit sub-division in Mon district of Nagaland.
Official sources said here today that unidentified gunmen yesterday attacked a house at Namsa in which about 20 NSCN-IM ultras were lodged, killing two of them on the spot.
The sources said the attackers could not be identified yet.
However, suspected ULFA cadres might be behind the attack as there was a clash in the area between the NSCN-IM and ULFA a few days back, which killed one cadre from each side, the sources added.
The ULFA also alleged that some of their ultras had been abducted by the NSCN-IM and had appealed to release them.
However, unofficial sources said the NSCN(K) could have been behind the attack.
