Aizawl, Nov 29 (UNI) Mizoram University vice-chancellor Prof A N Rai today observed that the two main setbacks of colleges in Mizoram are inadequacy of teachers and improved laboratories.

He was speaking at the third Mizoram College Principals' Conference, inaugurated by Mizoram Governor Lt Gen (Rtd) M M Lakhera. Commissioning the Mizoram University's computer centre, completed at a cost of Rs 65 lakhs, the Governor said the state government could arrange all necessary funds for the development of the university, but utilisation of the funds depended on it.

The Governor advised the university's students to have a vision for the state's development in accordance with its geographical conditions.

Mr Lakhera emphasised on the importance of the students' role in bridging the widening gap between the haves and the have-nots and increasing unemployment problems which had a negative impact on the society.

The Governor also noted that though Mizoram had a high rate of literacy, this was not the case in education and urged the students to find out the main drawbacks in different spheres.
