Major tragedy averted, IED defused in north Kashmir
Baramulla, Nov 29 (UNI) Troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) today averted a major tragedy when they defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants in north Kashmir.
Official sources said a Road Opening Party (ROP) of RR detected an IED planted by militants to target security force vehicles at Sopore on Batingoo-Bandipora road.
Traffic on the road was immediately stopped and all areas were sealed, they said, adding a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) later defused it without causing any damage. Had it not been detected and defused, it would have caused much damage to life and property, the sources added.
