Chennai, Nov 29 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss today wondered why the DMK government had not chosen to declare holidays for medical colleges in the state and close down the hostels where the Medicos and House surgeons were going on indefinite strike.

Joining issue with state Health Minister M R K Panneerselvam, the PMK leader denied having said that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was instigating the strike and accused the Minister of levelling a false charge against him, instead of replying to the queries raised by him.

He said when the Law and Arts college students in the state had recently given a call for agitation, the government, on the very next day declared holidays for those colleges and closed down the hostels, but it was allowing the Medicos to go ahead with their agitation since November three.

The Medicos were on the war path for about three months, but the government, instead of finding a solution, remained a silent spectator, he said.

Dr Ramadoss charged and wanted to know the steps taken by the Deans of the colleges, Health Secretary and Health Minister to end the strike.

Instead of replying to these quries, Mr Panneerselvam had falsely quoted him as saving said that the Chief Minister was instigating the stir, the PMK leader, whose party is a key ally of the DMK led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), said.
