Huawei to provide scholarships to IIT-B students

Bangalore, Nov 29 (UNI) Chinese telecom major Huawei Technologies today announced scholarships to meritorious students of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore.

A company release here said the scholarships would be offered to students of IIIT-B, graduating with Master of Science in Information Technology and students completing M Tech thesis.

Commenting on the partnership with Huawei, IIIT-B Director Sadagopan said the IIIT-B had developed considerable expertise in Telecom area over the years. We expect to synergise our strengths through this partnership.

Huawei Technologies Chief Operating Officer George Huang said ''with an aim to support IT education in India, and more specifically in the field of higher education and research, Huawei Technologies India has set up the Huawei Excellence Award scholarships'' As a global corporate citizen, contributing to the countries and communities in which it operated, it had always been one of Huawei's core values. Providing people with better career opportunities, higher standard of living and education have been very much a part of its commitment to society, the release added.
