Chennai, Nov 29 (UNI) The Madras High Court today posted for December 3, further hearing on the anticipatory bail application filed by AIADMK Rajya Sabha member and party's legal advisor N Jothi, who apprehended arrest in connection with a case registered against him by the CB-CID police.
Mr Justice T Sudanthiram adjourned the hearing after Public Prosecutor N Raja Elango sought time to file the counter.
The Public Prosecutor assured the court that the government would not ''persuade'' the case against Mr Jothi till the disposal of his anticipatory bail application.
The CB-CID police registered a case against Mr Jothi last evening on a complaint by city-based advocate Amarnath Rao, who alleged misuse of government money by Mr Jothi for attending proceedings before the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal, when he was not authorised to appear.
When the bail plea came up for hearing today, Mr Rao filed an interim petition, stating that Mr Jothi should not be given the anticipatory bail.
Mr Rao had stated in the complaint that though Mr Jothi was not officially appointed as the government counsel to argue the case before the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, he had availed accommodation in the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi and claimed money for his air trips.
