Chennai, Nov 29 (UNI) Five students of a private school sustained injuries when the Mahindra van in which they were travelling to school overturned at Medavakkam high road this morning.
Police said 25 students of Christ King Matriculation Higher Secondary School were travelling in the van when the mishap occurred. The driver lost control of the van while negotiating several pot holes on the bumpy road.
The school management had admitted the five injured to a private hospital and the other 20 students, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid and brought to the school.
Those admitted to the hospital were seventh standard students Revathi (13), Ponmani (13) and Karthik (12), fourth standard student Dixon (nine) and second standard student Saroja (eight).
Parents of the students were not informed of the accident.
As their wards did not return home, the panic-stricken parents rushed to the school and came to know of the accident.
Following pressure from parents, the school management had registered a complaint with the Pallikkaranai police, which had launched a manhunt to nab the absconding van driver Suresh.
