Centre askes NE state to reorient Eco-clubs
Agartala, Nov 29 (UNI) The Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has instructed the state Council of Science and Technology Of Northeastern states to reorient the eco-clubs in the region.
Official sources here today said the ministry had felt the need to renovate the ecoclubs and spread environmental awareness among the children.
The state governments of the region would be given liberty to set any number of eco-clubs. But the financial assistance of Rs 2500 per annum would be given only to the first 250 clubs for each district.
Eco-clubs was set up in the schools under National Green Corps (NGC) Programme, 2000-01.
