Chennai, Nov 29 (UNI) The Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) police has registered a case against Rajya Sabha Member and AIADMK Legal Advisor N Jothi last evening, in connection with the alleged misuse of government money by him for attending proceedings before the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal.

The CB-CID registered a FIR yesterday against Mr Jothi following a complaint by city-based lawyer Amarnath Rao, a day before his anticipatory bail application was scheduled to come up for hearing in the Madras High Court.

In the complaint, Mr Rao said Mr Jothi, who was not authorised by the government to appear before the Tribunal, had availed funds from the Public Works Department for flying to Delhi and attending the proceedings by misusing the government money during the previous AIADMK regime.

Mr Jothi, who apprehended arrest, had approached the High Court, seeking anticipatory bail and the same was posted for today for further hearing.

When the petition had come up for hearing before Justice T Sudanthiram on November 26, public prosecutor N R Elango said the police had not filed any case against Mr Jothi till date, after which the Judge posted the case for today.

Mr Jothi had submitted that the State police might file a case against him on a complaint that he had ''misused'' the government money for attenting the proceedings before the Cauvery Tribunal.
