Bharatiya Janshakti candidates to contest polls: Umesh Mathur
Ahmedabad, Nov 29 (UNI) Uma Bharti has not joined the BJP nor there was any question of supporting the party, Mr Umesh Dutt Mathur of Bharatiya Janshakti Party said today.
Addressing mediapersons here, Mr Mathur, the second in command after Ms Bharti, flayed reports appearing in a section of the media that the Bharatiya Janshakti Party was withdrawing its candidates from contesting the next month's assembly polls.
''Rumours are being set afloat to demoralise Bharatiya Janshakti Party candidates about Ms Bharati joining the BJP,'' he said.
He said 23 candidates have filed their candidature for the first phase of the polls, while 30 would file for the second phase. All 53 will be contesting the polls and there was no confusion on this score, he added.
To a 'hypothetical' question, he replied that all the party candidates will be contesting the polls even if Ms Bharti re-joins the BJP. Since the nominations have been filed, there was no question of withdrawal, he reiterated.
