Jammu, Nov 29 (UNI) The Auxiliary Police Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police will celebrate Raising Day with the opening of sports meet beginning here from tomorrow.
Addressing mediapersons this morning, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Homeguards, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police, Naveen Aggarwal said that all the three wings were inter-related in their fields of duties as Homeguards was ancillary to Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police was feeding channel of Civil Defence.
''Sports is a medium, which is being organized for close interaction of all the three wings and to give moral boost to all the individuals participating in four-day long Sports Meet prior to Raising Day, which is to be celebrated on December 6,'' Aggarwal told UNI.
Briefing about the preparations and participations, Aggarwal said that around 300 men from six wings of the state will be taking part in the events of football, volleyball, tug-of-war and kabaddi besides athletics.
''We also want our jawans to compete at national level and such events help them to gear up and prepare for the national competitions, which are not being held annually but whenever there are Homeguards and Civil Defence national level competitions, our teams too enthusiastically take part,'' Aggarwal added.
The closing ceremony of the meet will take place on December 3 while Chief Wardens Conference on December 4 and parade on December 6, are the other highlights of the Raising Day celebrations.
