New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Some of the leading drivers including Chennai-based Saran Vikram and Kolkata's Amitrajeet Ghosh will be seen in action in the inaugural 100,000 dollar prize money Goodyear Top 1 racing championship to be held at Greater Noida, near here on December 24 and 25.
Others who are expected to take part are ace drivers Gaurav Dalal, Anand Prasad, C Rajaram and Siddharth Bose.
Announcing this at a media conference this afternoon, Sports Management Group International (SMGI) Director, Manzar Khan said the Goodyear Top 1 Racing challenge will be one of the richest mororsports event in the country.
He said the event will be followed by three more legs, for which the venues have yet to be decided.
Race director R Sayal said the championship will be run in a two-tier structure, allowing the racers to compete in either professional or professional amateur category, depending on their profile and past experience.
Sayal said the Goodyear Top 1 series will also feture Indian made cars with engine capacity of 1400 cc and 1400 to 1600cc.
Goodyear Top 1 is a ''scratch'' race where the fastest car at the practice weekend will start at the front of the starting grid.
The race will witness upto 20 teams and 60 cars.
He said the engine capacity categories will ensure that cars are equally matched and competition remains intense throughout the 20 laps of 2.7 racing circuit around the India Expo centre.
Mahesh Krishnan of Goodyear said since all cars will run on Goodyear tyres, only the drivers skill, talent and experience will make the difference for victory, points and prize money.
The first position holder will get 180 points, with ten points seperating from the second.
