Bangalore, Nov 28 (UNI) The Bangalore International Airport set for opening on March 30 next year will offer the integrated passenger-baggage reconciliation system (BRS).

The system to be deployed by SITA, global leader in integrated IT business solutions and communication services for the air transport industry, would help end-to-end tracking of baggage.

Speaking to news persons here today, BAIL Chief Operation Officer Marcel Hungerbuehler said BRS ensures streamlining of transport of baggage as at every step the baggage would be visible to the passenger in the airport.

SITA Regional Vice President Elyes M'Rad said the company tracks baggage in 220 countries and territories and it had developed BRS which combined bar codes, WLAN and IP-based global connectivity to ensure baggage gets to its destination without any wastage of time.

"This is the first time BRS is being introduced in an Indian airport. It reduces aircraft delays through quicker off-loading in case of a passenger no-shows and automatically redirects bags that missed their connection onto alternative flights," he added.
