Lucknow, Nov 28 (UNI) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today denounced the Uttar Pradesh government for ''working against the welfare'' of the state farmers.
''Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) came into regime with tall claims to wipe off crime and corruption, but each and every vow has fallen like a pack of cards,'' RLD youth in charge Jayant Chaudhary charged.
''No effective policy for farmers' welfare has so far been put into motion...if government takes one step ahead for their benefit, it also takes two steps back after sometime, Mr Chaudhary maintained.
The state government had announced contract farming, but later withdrew it, he underlined.
The RLD leader further alleged the Mayawati government was ''hand-in-glove'' with the sugarmill owners, which has delayed the wheat production.
The farmers are also not getting DAP manure, he added.
The proposed Uttar Pradesh Control of Crime Act (UPCOCA) is being brought for misuse, Mr Chaudhary added saying, his party would protest the 'anti-farmer' and 'anti-people' policies of the state government.
