Nagpur, Nov 28 (UNI) Leader of the BJP group in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse has said Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil and Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar were trying to ''expose'' each other in the House.

Speaking to newspersons at the Council Hall premises here this evening, Mr Khadse said Mr Patil was trying to settle scores with Mr Kupekar for showing the Home Department in a bad light in the House.

''Mr Kupekar revealed to the House earlier that he wrote as many as four letters to the Home Department, held by Mr Patil, about the alleged misbehaviour by a senior police official with the family of a legislator, in Solapur some weeks ago. This showed the Home Department in bad light. Mr Patil is, therefore, upset with Mr Kupekar,'' Mr Khadse claimed.

Mr Patil had, therefore, deliberately instigated members of the treasury benches to create a ruckus in the House today even after the Speaker had given a ruling on the issue of withdrawal of a question submitted by some opposition members, Mr Khadse said.

''It was very unfortunate, as it is the responsibility of the ruling party to ensure that the proceedings are conducted properly.

More so, since by precedent, the Speaker's ruling is not challenged and no comment can be made thereon,'' he said.

It was well known that Mr Patil and Mr Kupekar shared ''very cordial'' relations, Mr Khadse quipped, adding that the ruckus today was the result of this relation.
