No sealing in special areas: Gupta

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Vijender Gupta today said the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will not seal any property in special areas as defined in the 2021 Delhi Master Plan.

''This will hold good whether the roads are notified or not and will thus have universal application through out the Walled City and its extensions, Karol Bagh and continguous area in between,''Mr Gupta told reporters here.

Mr Gupta said under the MPD 2021, this area has been declared a special area for the purpose of development.

''The Master Plan has recognized that this area needs special treatment as it cannot be developed on the basis of normal regulations,''Mr Gupta said.

He said that as required under the Master Plan, the MCD will prepare and notify the redevelopment scheme for this area by February 7, 2010.

As per law, status-quo shall be maintained in the special area.

Mr. Gupta informed that the Monitoring Committee constituted by the Supreme Court has gone to the Court on the subject. The matter will be taken up along with other matters on the subject in February next year.
