Militant killed, infiltration bid foiled on LoC

Jammu, Nov 28 (UNI) An infiltration bid was foiled by the Army this evening and one militant was gunned down in a joint operation along the Line of Control (LoC) at Dadal Post in tehsil Nowshera in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a Defence spokesman said.

''The troops of 18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and 62 BSF noticed suspicious movement on the border at Dadal Post and the area was cordoned, Defence spokesman Col. Goswami said, adding that militants opened fire on the troops, which was retaliated.

However, one militant was gunned down in the encounter whereas another was trapped in the ambush and the operation was in progress, till the last reports came in.

The body of the slain militant was lying near Munar Tawi, which is on the other side of the border and demarcating LoC, official sources said.
