Durgapur, Nov 28 (UNI) At least 10 people were today injured in police lathichage, when Bharatiya Majdoor Morcha(BMM), BJP's youth wing, agitated before Durgapur Thermal Power Station(DTPS), demanding employment for the local youths.
They wanted to make their demands heard before the Plant authorities. But, when they refused to do so, they blocked the busy road, during office hours, police sources said.
The sources informed that their team had tried to disperse the crowd, but the agitated people flared up and they had to resort to lathicharge.
The injured had been admitted to Durgapur Subdivisional hospital at Bidhannagar and later seven of them had been arrested.
BMM leader Badal Debnath said, ''We did not resort to violence until the police chased us.'' Police has, however, refused to comment on the matter.
