Govt to implement Rs 2 per kg rice scheme soon: Minister

Eluru, Nov 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government will soon implement the ration rice scheme of Rs two per kg to provide food security to the poor, Civil Supplies Minister Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the scheme would incur an additional burden of Rs 1,019 crore on the state's exchequer. To implement the scheme soon, the government had already held discussions with the Finance Department.

To distribute ration cards for the poor, the department had already set up 100 permanent D L P centres across the state and added the government's aim was to sanction white ration cards to the eligible shortly.

He claimed that there was huge increase in the yield of paddy in the state as the construction of irrigation projects were functioning well.
