Fenix, Straykars and Shivajiyans on a roll

Pune, Nov 28 (UNI) Fenix XI defeated Straykars 1-0, Shivajiyans beat Aryans Pimpari 1-0 while Ultimate Blues easily put out Invadors by 4-1 in the qualifying rounds of the 5th Abhijeet Kadam Memorial All India Invitational Football Tournament-2008.

The tournament is jointly conducted by the Abhijit Kadam memorial Foundation (AKMF) and the Deccan XI Football Club, under the aegis of Pune District Football Association (PDFA) and qualifying rounds be played at the lush green full-fledged football stadium of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Educational Complex grounds.

The qualifying rounds will be played till December 9 on a knock out basis.

This year the 5th late Abhijeet Kadam Memorial Football Tournament will be conducted in February-March 2008. Ten super division teams from the PDFA league will directly qualify while four teams from the qualifying rounds will make up the total of 14 teams from Pune for the main draw. This was done with the aim of getting the best performances out of Pune teams.

Following are the results: 1 Fenix XI: 1 (Varun Tembalkar 39 min) bt Straykars: 0, 2 Shivajiyans: 1 (Vidit Tiwari ) bt Aryans Pimpari: 0, 3 Ultimate Blues: 4 (Amir Parihar 3 min, Milroy Fernandez 16 min, Allan D'Suza 28 min, Denzal 47 min) bt Invadors: 1 (Ritesh Pardeshi 40 min).
