Dist admn to distribute FRO to polio patients

Kozhikode, Nov 28 (UNI) The district administration, in association with other organisations, will distribute 'Floor Reaction Orthosis' (FRO) to polio patients, with lower limb weaknesses, free of cost here on November 30.

Deserving patients for the appliance, designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisations (DRDO), would be selected at a medical camp on the day, District Collector A Jayathilak told newspersons today.

Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem would inaugurate the camp, he said.

He said the DRDO had already provided the light weight and user friendly device to many patients across the world.

Apart from polio patients, those with weak lower limbs due to other causes can also use the appliance, he said.

The other joint organisers of the camp were Kozhikode Medical College, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Lions and Rotary Clubs of Calicut, he added.
