Dehradun, Nov 28 (UNI) Delhi Orissa, Manipur and Tamilnadu sailed into the quarter finals of 53rd National School Games (Under-17) VolleyBall Tournament here today.
Delhi defeated IPSC in straight sets 25-15, 25-12, Orissa excelled over Assam 25-23, 25-12 and Manipur perspired against Rajasthan in a three sets game to make it to the last eight with an 18-25, 25-19, 25-11 victory in the Boys category. Meanwhile Tamilnadu defeated IPSC in Girls category with 25-16, 25-18 to waltz into quarters.
Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are the other teams to enter into the quarter finals in the Boys category earning the highest and second highest points in their respective groups' league matches.
Meanwhile Kerela, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Delhi and Tamilnadu reached quarterfinals in the Under-17 Girls category.
In the Boys category, Haryana and Punjab topped Group A with 10 points each, Uttarakhand and Delhi topped Group B with 12and 10 points respectively. In Group C Uttar Pradesh (10 points) and Orissa (8 points) topped the chart, and Manipur (8) and Rajasthan (6) qualified from Group D.
In the quarter finals, Haryana will clash with Orissa, UP would meet Punjab, Uttarakhand will face Rajasthan and Manipur would take on Delhi on November 29.
In the Girls Category, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal excelled in Group A earning 8 and 6 points respectively. In Group B, Punjab (10 points) and Haryana (8 points) topped the chart.Karnataka (6) and Rajasthan (4) qualified from Group C and In Group D Delhi (14) and Tamilnadu (12) made it in the last eight.
Kerala will face Rajasthan, Karnataka will meet Himachal Pradesh, Punjab will taste Tamilnadu and Delhi would face Haryana in quarter finals tomorrow.
