Perambalur, Nov 28 (UNI) The district police of Perambalur and the newly formed Ariyalur districts were on tender hooks for a while today, following a chain of bomb threats.
Police said a staff member of the Governmet Higher Secondary School at Thirumazhapadi near Ariyalur had received an anonymous phone call stating that a bomb had been planted in the school premises as well the ancient Lord Shiva temple (Sri Vaithiyanathaswamy temple) and it might go off any time.
Immediately the school authorities informed the police, who conducted a thorough search, along with bomb detection squad and sniffer dog, in both the school and temple premises, but no explosives were found.
An anonymous letter received by the Government Higher Secondary School at Padalur near Perumbalur also created panic. Following this a police team conducted a thorough search in the school premises but nothing indicriminate was found.
