New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Resident doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have decided to go on a one-day strike tomorrow in protest the passage in Parliament of a controversial bill seeking to cut short the tenure of AIIMS Director P Venugopal by fixing the age of superannuation of the Institute Director at 65 years.

''The doctors will observe a one day strike tomorrow to protest the passage of the Bill fixing the upper age limit for Directors of prestigious Central medical institutes -- AIIMS, New Delhi and PGI, Chandigarh -- at 65 years,''spokesperson of the AIIMS resident doctors association Kumar Harsh said.

All services, including the OPD, will remain suspended tomorrow owing to the strike, Dr Harsh said.

The Lok Sabha today passed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill limiting the tenure of directors to five years and the maximum retirement age at 65, whichever being less.

The Lok Sabha witnessed angry exchanges between the opposition and ruling coalition members over the bill.
