Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 27 (UNI) The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have arrested a Zilla Parishad (ZP) education officer and an office-bearer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a suspended primary teacher last evening.
According to ACB sources, the education officer (primary), Shivaji Bagul, had demanded Rs 20,000 to reinstate the teacher Vikas Janjire, who was working at Sirsala village in Sillod tehsil.
The complainant was asked to bring the money to the office of the Social Welfare Committee chairman, Vitthal Kolekar. The teacher was suspended following an inquiry, after a complaint was lodged against him under the Atrocities Act.
Bagul had initially asked Janjire to pay Rs 50,000 to get back his job. Following a bargain, the officer agreed to accept Rs 20,000 as the first installment and asked him to hand over the cash to Kolekar. As soon as Kolekar accepted the powdered currency notes, the ACB sleuths swung into action and nabbed the two. An offence had been registered against the duo in the Kranti Chowk police station, the sources added.
