Uttarakhand: Congress, BSP stage walkout

Dehradun, Nov 27: The Congress and The Bahujan Samaj Party demanding immediate discussion of their respective issues under rule 310 staged a walkout in the House here today.

As soon as Assembly Speaker Harbans Kapoor entered the House members of opposition Congress and BSP trooped into the well demanding immediate discussion on their respective issues. Congress members said development issues in the state has reached stagnation should be discussed immediately. BSP members raising issue of ownership right of land to dalits, backward classes and Raisikhs of Udhamsingh Nagar residing at the bank of Gadarpur Block Dam demanded a discussion.

Opposion leader Harak Singh Rawat said no development was going on in the state. He pointed out that funds meant for Annual Programs were not utilised, adding that where some of the government Department has utilised only 10 per cent of it others have failed to utilise even one per cent. Terming it a serious matter he demanded the issue be discussed immediately.

On the other hand BSP member Narain Pal said that despite several requests to the government the land ownership rights to the people belonging to dalits, Backward and Raiksikh community were not given to them. He stressed these people were farmers living below poverty line. He along with his other BSP members demanded discussion. The Speaker urged them to take their seats and maintain order in the House first. Not relenting members of both the party then staged walk out.

When the Speaker was carrying out other business of theHouse, Opposition leader again raised the issue time and demanded for the discussion. The Speaker however refused to relent.

Whereupon Congress members staged a walkout for the second time saying that the government was not sensitive towards public welfare issues. The Speaker carried out the House proceeding and adjourned the House till 1500 hrs at 1320 hrs.
