Puducherry, Nov 27 (UNI) Puducherry Welfare Minister M Kandasamy today suggested to set up a separate hospital for the HIV possitive patients in the Union Territory.

Speaking at a function, organised by the Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society to provide training to the AIDS volunteers and awareness to the AIDS patients in Puducherry and Cuddalore district, Mr Kandasamy said that the Government should provide financial assistance to them on the lines of the old aged, widows and physically challenged.

To implement any schemes for the AIDS patients there should be some statistics of AIDS patients, he said and added, however, at present it was difficult to work out a statistics. And if the Government would announce any financial support to AIDS patients, many of them would come forward and it could be considered as the statistics, he added.
