Chennai, Nov 27 (UNI) In a stepped-up drive against anti-social elements, the Tamil Nadu police have rounded up 1,813 rowdies in an operation last night and intiated action against them.
The state-wide raids by 1,983 patrol teams in 320 places across the State, comes in the wake of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's directive following recent political killings by mercenaries.
State Director General of Police P Rajendran, in a statement here said the police have arrested 1,025 people under the Goondas Act, National Security Act and Prohibition Act across the State.
He said police were making arrangements to provide immediate asssitance to public any time at any place.
The activities of known criminals were being monitored, he said and warned action under Goondas Act and NSA against those who involve in any kind of crimes.
