Mumbai, Nov 27 (UNI) Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Kathak Queen Sitara Devi, along with other artists, will perform for 'Smritiyaan', a musical tribute to tabla wizard Pandit Chaturlal, on November 30 at the Shanmukhananda Hall here.
The musical event is being organized by Pandit Chaturlal Memorial Society.
Speaking to reporters, Sitara Devi said, ''I will perform at the event to pay my tributes to the Tabla Wizard.'' Devi was very critical about the State and the Central government's attitude towards classical music and artists and said that it has not done enough for the promotion of the artists.
Pandit Chaurasia said ''the event is going to be a mix of many kinds of music and dance. The senior artists are trying very hard to keep our ancient tradition as vibrant as possible as India has abundant talent.'' The Pandit Chaturlal Memorial Society was founded to commemorate the work done by the late Pandit Chaturlal and has been promoting Indian Classical music and dance for more than a decade.
