INS Chetlat launched at GRSE

Kolkata, Nov 27 (UNI) INS Chetlat, the most modern Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (WJFAC) of its kind in the country, was launched at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) here today.

It is the second of the ten WJFAC designed in house by GRSE.

INS- Chetlat is an improved version of the Fast Attack Crafts earlier constructed by GRSE with a more efficient hull-form designed and proven after extensive model testing to achieve speed in excess of 35 knots.

The first ship of the series (INS Car Nicobar) was launched by GRSE on November 23, 2007.

The 48.90-metre long ship has a moulded depth of four metres with a designed speed of 35 knots. The ship has an endurance of 2000 nautical miles at 12-14 knots speed.
