HC directs Centre to file status report in tax evasion case

Kochi, Nov 27 (UNI) Kerala High Court today directed the Centre to file a status report within two weeks on the inquiry about the alleged tax evasion by CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Education Minister M A Baby, Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac and Pinarayi's son Vivek.

Justice Antony Dominic gave the above direction based on a petition filed by T P Nandakumar, a magazine editor.

The petitioner sought a direction to the Director General of Revenue Intelligence and the Centre to order an inquiry into the allegations levelled against Vijayan, Baby, Isaac and Vivek.

The Income Tax Department had already filed an affidavit in the case stating that an inquiry was on.
