Jaipur, Nov 27 (UNI) A lower court here has asked the Jyothi Nagar police to register a complaint and investigate a case of insult to national flag during the fifth India-Pak ODI played at Jaipur and submit a report at the earliest.
The order came on a complaint in this regard filed in the ACJM IV court of Jagmohan Agarwal by Nagarik Morcha, an NGO, against Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) office-bearers for the use of the tricolour as table cloth and sofa cover by the guests of the Rajasthan Cricket Association in the VIP Gallery of the SMS stadium during the match.
The complainant, Suresh Mishra, state convener of the organisation, made RCA president Lalit Modi, senior vice-president Dr Vimal Soni and secretary Subash Joshi as respondents in the petition.
Judge Jagmohan Agarwal directed the Jyothinagar police under section 156(3) of the CrPC to register a complaint against the accused and investigate the matter. He also asked the police to furnish the report ''at the earliest''.
If convicted the accused would have to undergo a maximum of three- year imprisonment and pay a fine as decided by the court.
