Council Chairman proposes to redefine its role

Bangalore, Nov 27 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman B K Chandrashekhar today said that he had sent a proposal to Governor Rameshwar Thakur to utilise the services of MLCs in various Department Advisory Committees to activate the administration.

Talking to newsmen here, he said in the absence of the Lower House following the President's rule, the services of MLCs may be utilised in the Administration.

He said he held discussion with the MLCs earlier in this regard and sent a proposal to the Governor.

Stating that the Council is a living body and its members continue to be in public service during the term of the President's rule, he said the government should make use of the services of the MLCs.

He said he had also written to the Centre to redefine the role of the Upper House to activate the administration in the event of the dissolution of the Lower House.
