APUWJ demands govt to re-constitute High Power Committees
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (UNI) Expressing concern over increasing attacks on scribes, the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) today demanded that the government re-constitute the state and district level High Power Committees to look into the attacks on Journalists.
According to a press release here, APUWJ General Secretary Y Narendar Reddy said at least 40 scribes were attacked in the state in the last six months. The APUWJ Sub-Committee, looking into the attacks, felt that the government was not taking action against those manhandling the journalists.
The Committee called on the scribes to submit a memorandum to respective Collectors and peoples' representatives, listing the attacks on journalists, on December 3.
