42 foeticide cases pending against doctors in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Nov 27 (UNI) As many as 42 cases were pending before the courts against doctors for allegedly facilitating female foeticide and conducting pre birth sex determination tests in Rajasthan Health Minister DR Digambar Singh said today, Addressing a press conference here Dr Digambar Singh clarified that no cases were withdrawn by the state govenrment against tainted doctors who were involved in facilitating female foeticide and/or conducting pre-natal sex determination tests.

He said the cases were still pending before the court.

However, a six month ban on medical practice which was imposed by the Rajasthan Medical Council(RMC) against the tainted doctors had recently expired.

He said the council had imposed the ban on these doctors for a period of six months as per the provision of the Medical Council Act and there was no breach in the council's conduct in this regard.

The law would take its own course in the trial in the pending cases, the minister added.
