WB govt may be diverting attention from Nandigram: Digvijay
Bhopal, Nov 26 (UNI) Congress General Secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh today alleged that the West Bengal government's stance vis-a-vis Bangladeshi-origin author Taslima Nareen, could be an attempt to divert attention from Nandigram.
Mr Singh's remark was made here in response to a media query on the West Bengal government's ''failure'' to provide adequate security to Ms Nasreen in view of the agitation against her.
''I am not authorised to clarify my party's stand on the matter but it is my opinion that every person in this country is free to express his views,'' he added.
On the anti-tribal violence in Asom, Mr Singh pointed out that he was no longer in charge of that state. ''The state government is capable of tackling the situation,'' he said.
