The
call
for
an
indefinite
shutdown
by
Gorkha
National
Liberation
Front
or
GNLF
in
the
wake
of
an
attack
on
one
of
its
leaders
crippled
the
hill
town
of
Darjeeling
on
November
24th.
Shops,
business
establishments
and
educational
institutes
remained
closed
throughout
the
day.
The district administration has promulgated section 144 of Indian Criminal Procedure Code to avoid any untoward situation in the area.
