Twin bandhs affect life in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 26 (UNI) Life was affected today in some parts of the state due to bandhs called by two separate organisations.

Police said the Joint Action Committee (JAC) had called the bandh protesting killing of two men in an alleged fake encounter by the police.

Traffic was disrupted at several places as the demonstrators blocked the roads and burnt tyres.

The JAC called a 12-hour bandh Mayai Lambi from 0600 hours and another from 0400 hours to 1700 hours at Uripok Kangchup protesting against Imphal police for allegedly killing the two men in fake encounter.

All the educational institutions and commercial establishments were closed in view of the bandh.

However, no untoward incidents had been reported so far, police informed.
