New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) The Opposition in the Rajya Sabha today demanded resignation of Home Minister Shivraj Patil in view of the serial bomb blasts in Uttar Pradesh on November 23, forcing the Chair to adjourn the House till 1200 hrs.
The slogan-shouting opposition members repeatedly demanded ''Home Minister Resign, Home Minister Down Down, Terrorist genocide will not be allowed''.
The serial bomb blasts had occurred in the three city courts of Uttar Pradesh -- Faizabad, Varanasi and Lucknow -- between 1300 hrs to 1325 hrs in which 14 people had lost their lives and 59 were injured.
The explosions were of low intensity in Lucknow, while those carried out in Varanasi and Faizabad were of high intensity.
The question hour could not be taken up due to din in the House.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Mohd. Hamid Ansari urged the agitated members to go to their places many times, but they did not relent.
Mr Ansari assured the members that the discussion could be taken up after 1200 hrs, but they kept shouting slogans.
The Chair adjourned the house till 1200 hrs.
The Home Minister, however, was not present in the House.
