More business mail centres to be opened in TN

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 26 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Postal Circle will open 29 more business mail centres all over the state, Postmaster General (Mail Management) K Ramachandran said today.

Inaugurating a new business mail centre here, he said such centres were already functioning, seven in Coimbatore and one each in Chennai, Madurai and Katpadi.

The Tamil Nadu postal department was handling 25 lakh ordinary letters every day of which Chennai city accounted for 13 lakh letters, 93,000 money orders, 1.15 lakh registered letters and 16,000 Speed Post articles.

He said in the individual letters category there was a fall but business and corporate mails had increased considerably.

Postmaster (central region) S P Rajalingam said eforts were on to launch business mail centres at Karur, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Villupuram before March next year.
