Mayawati wants PAC companies back from Delhi

Lucknow, Nov 26 (UNI) Citing scarcity of force in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Mayawati today requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to send back 13 companies of PAC deployed in New Delhi back to the state.

Addressing repoters here, Ms Mayawati said the Provincial Armed Constabulary companies were deployed in Delhi on the orders of the central government.

''But since we are facing a shortage of security personnel in the state, I have requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Shivraj V Patil to send back these companies to the state,' she said.

Based on the sanctioned strength, each company consists of around 100 personnel, including administrative and support staff.

Besides guarding other installations and VVIPs, PAC units are deployed in Parliament House and had played a major role in repelling the terrorist attack on Parliament.
