Manipur Dy Speaker's convoy attacked, three injured

Imphal, Nov 26 (UNI) Suspected militants today attacked Manipur Assembly Deputy Speaker Th Shyamkumar's convoy at Lamlai in Imphal East.

Police said the Deputy Speaker was not injured in the attack.

However, one of his drivers and two personnel of the Indian Reserve Battalion were injured in the attack.

The injured were rushed to the J N Hospital in Imphal East, police added.

Mr Shyamkumar was elected for the first time from the Andro Assembly constituency as a candidate of the Manipur Peoples Party (MPP).

Police said the convoy was travelling on the Imphal Ukhrul road when the suspected militants attacked it.

A massive combing operation was launched in the area. However, no one had been arrested so far, police added.
