Margao, Nov 26 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh had to be content with three points by virtue of the first innings lead after their four-day Ranji Plate 'B' cricket match between Goa tame draw on the last day here today.
Madhya Pradesh maintained their position at the top of the table with 13 points from two wins and a draw, while Goa increased their points tally to 9 with today's one point gain from the draw.
The visitors declared their second innings at 217 for four after adding 33 runs to the overnight total of 184 runs this morning and set Goa a target of 400 for a win by virtue of their 182-run first innings lead.
Goa could manage to score 217 for five in 74 overs in the second innings when captains of both the teams agreed for a draw after the fourth mandatory over.
Goa's 217 came on the strength of Swapnil Asnodkar's fine knock of 90 runs that was studded with 15 hits to the fence in 162 balls and 246 minutes of stay. His three valuable partnerships -- first of 40 runs with Sagun Kamat(19), second of 57 runs for the third wicket with captain J Arun Kumar (33), and the fourth-wicket partnership of 66 runs with Ajay Ratra (37), helped Goa raise their total to 174 for four before he was caught by Jatin Saxena off the bowling of Anand Rajan.
At the end of the fourth mandatory over, Goa were 217 for five in 74 overs when play was called off after both captains agreed to a draw.
