Lankan flight makes emergency landing

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) A Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Colombo made an emergency landing at the Anna International Airport here tonight giving a sigh of relief to 217 passengers and crew on board.

The flight UL-123 scheduled to land at 2030 hrs made an emergency landing at 2015 hrs following a technical snag in the steering.

The pilot, who noticed the snag few minutes before landing, alerted the control room.

The authorities swung into action and made all arrangements for a safe landing by rushing medical team and firefighters.

The flight after landing halted at the runway itself as it could not be veered to the bay. Later, using pushing vehicles it was brought to bay-46 and the passengers disembarked from the flight.

However, air traffic remained unaffected.

The flight scheduled to return at 2130 hrs is delayed.
