Kerala's Akil Krishnan sets record in junior nationals

Vijayawada, Nov 26 (UNI) Kerala's Akhil Krishnan created a new meet record in the boys' U-18 110 m hurdles by clocking 14.38 sec in the Reliance 23rd Junior National Championship here.

Akhil erased the old record set by Satinder Singh of Punjab who clocked 14.46 sec in the championship held here in 2004.

The silver went to Saba Bhagat of Maharashtra, who clocked 14.45 sec while C H Eswar Reddy of Andhra Pradesh settled for the bronze with 14.65 sec.

Karnataka's Nirupma Sundar Raj took the honours in the U-16 girls 100 m race running by clocking 12.55 sec and equalled the meet record set at Chennai in January 2005 by Viji Vijayan of Kerala.

G Mounica of Andhra Pradesh and R Kowsalya of Tamil Nadu won the silver and bronze, clocking 12.68 sec and 12.75 sec, respectively.
