Kozhikode, Nov 26 (UNI) Aimed at giving a boost to trade and industry, the Kerala Government proposed to hold district-wise trade fairs during festival seasons for the next four-five years in the state, Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan said today.

Inaugurating a registration campaign organised by the Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) for the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival beginning from December 1, he said the decision to make it regular was taken after the successful conduct of the Kozhikode Shopping Festival last year.

He said the government had allocated Rs 15 crore for the successful conduct of the event this year.

Rest of the Rs 15 crore, out of the total estimated expenditure of Rs 30 crore, would be mopped up by way of registration fee and sponsorship, Mr Balakrishan said.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan would inaugurate the event here on December 3, he added.
