ICWA to be headed by EAM: Cabinet
New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) The government today decided to amend the Indian Council of World Affairs Act 2001 to make the External Affairs Minister as the President of ICWA.
At present, the Vice President of India is the President of the Council, ex officio.
The Council would have a Director General who is holding or has held the post of at least Additional Secretary or an equivalent post. The post would be for a period not exceeding three years and shall be eligible for reappointment provided that no person shall hold the office after attaining the age of 65 years.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.
